ST.
CHARLES Carthagena, Ohio |
|
We Invite you to join us in prayer. Presently there are
44 priests and 17 brothers for a total of 61 living at St. Charles. Most priests are in
retirement while the majority of brothers are still actively employed. Suffering which
comes with aging is an important form of prayer as priests and brothers spend their
declining years in retirement. The foundation of ora et labora, pray and work,
applies to form our prayer community. It is a privilege for each priest to celebrate Mass
daily. Brothers and priests make their prayer centered particularly on the Blood of
Christ. We wish to be attentive to your prayer needs and
invite you to submit your prayer intentions. We will place your names and intentions on
our prayer list outside of the chapel. Our prayer is our gift to you. No solicitation
response will be directed to you. Prayer requests can be directed to: Prayer Requests or to Fr. Jim McCabe, C.PP.S. at email duxcpps@bright.net. PRAYER TO ST. GASPAR FOR THE CHURCH |

St. Gaspar, you loved the persecuted Church, and in the name of God you accepted disgrace and exile. We beg your intercession for the Church today; help us discern how we are to live and promote the message of the Gospel. United with you, may our hearts have compassion for the poor and abandoned. Increase our love for the Blood of Christ, so that we also may be prepared to risk our lives. We thank God for your good works and example. Strengthen our union with you that we may not weaken, but grow stronger in our vocation to the honor of God and the salvation of souls. Amen. | |
St. Gaspar del Bufalo, the apostle of the devotion to the Precious Blood, was born in Rome on January 6, 1786. As a devoted priest he revived the works of the apostolate in Rome and later became a dedicated missionary. In his missionary travels of Italy, he invited the faithful to reflect upon and to adore the Precious Blood of Christ. In the year 1815 he founded the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood; and in 1834, with encouragement, Blessed Maria de Matias founded the Congregation of the Sisters Adorers of the Blood of Christ. He was beatified by St. Pius X in 1904 and canonized by Pius XII on June 12, 1954. His feast day is October 21.
